Pilates is a unique experiential approach that focuses on integrating the mind and body to increase muscle control and balance. This system emphasises consciously controlled movements to ensure correct muscle sequencing. The exercises require concentration and attention to detail. The result is not just to strengthen one particular muscle action but deliver a smooth, controlled movement pattern.

In summary, Pilates is a series of exercises that focus predominantly on the abdomen, thighs, legs and back. Pilates engages deep core muscles that help support our spine and improve our posture. Exercises are done on a floor mat as the name suggests. Exercises are designed to use your own bodyweight to create resistance and improve muscle strength and endurance safely.

One of the best benefits of doing Pilates at Elite PT is the setting. Classes typically take place on our ‘open air’ balcony overlooking the beach and ocean providing fresh air and a great view. This adds infinitely to the Pilates experience. In bad weather the class is brought indoors.

Spinlates is a unique class format to the Elite PT class timetable which combines 25 minutes of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on the bikes, with 30 minutes of Mat Work Pilates. 

This class provides all the cardiovascular and calorie burning benefits of HIIT training, along with the benefits of Pilates including core control and strength, improved posture and muscle balance, mobility, general strength and muscle tone and much more all wrapped up in the one class.

A great class for the time conscious to cover so many training benefits in the one class.
